COMMUNITY EDUCATION NEWS

1.       Applications are still being accepted for Activities Assistants for the Summer Rec & Enrichment Program.  We will be hiring assistants for track, soccer, basketball, and science camp.   You may apply for the whole program or to assist in a specific activity.  Applications and the schedule of activities are available in the Community Education Office.  ​

2.       Learn the game of Pickleball this summer.  Mr. Archer will be instructing Pickleball on Tuesday evenings, beginning June 20th on the Tennis Courts.   Flyers are available in the Community Education Office or in Mr. Archer's room.  Participants must be 16 or older.

3.       Self-Defense for Women (age 13 & older) will be Wednesday, July 12th, 6:00-8:30.   The class will be held at Yennie Martial Arts Studio in downtown Chatfield.  Registration forms are available in the Community Education Office.

MCA testing April 24th -28th for MIDDLE SCHOOL.  On Monday and Tuesday, if you are testing periods 1 & 2, report to the cafeteria at 7:45 for a pretest snack and then get to testing labs by 8:10.  If you are testing periods 3 & 4 you will be released from your 2nd period class at 9:30 to go to cafeteria for pretest snack and then get to testing labs by 9:40. 

  • Monday periods 1 & 2 - BLUE LAB = Becker's Class (8th Grade) and GOLD LAB = Bartel's Class (8th Grade)
  • Monday periods 3 & 4 - BLUE LAB = Wasmundt's Class (7th Grade) and GOLD LAB = Bartel's Class (7th Grade)

On Thursday, May 11th Dr. David Farley, a surgeon and educator at Mayo Clinic, and his team will host two 3-hour interactive sessions for high school students called "Saving Lives with Gus". Our goal is first and foremost to teach students how to save a life by using AEDs and CPR, but also give them a glimpse at what things medical students, surgical residents, and practicing physicians do!  You will perform an ultrasound on your own kidneys, stitch simulated skin, and complete surgical tasks using laparoscopic equipment.  Please see Mrs. Gathje TODAY if you would like to attend. 

Registration for driver education is open.  Beginning April 24 (not April 18) Registration forms will be available in the District Office (Mrs. Lowrey).  Students must be at least 14.5 years old. Attendance at all sessions (June 5-16/8:00am-11:00am) is mandatory.

Europe Travelers - Departing CHS June 13th at 8:30 AM sharp. Please research Delta's requirements for overseas travel. We will be traveling by train under the English Channel to France and YOU will be seated with your luggage so keep this in mind when packing.

REMINDER: Thursday March 16 – Yearbook pictures for ALL Clubs/Organizations. Groups will be called down to the gym for pictures starting at 1:00.

COLLEGE VISIT!  A representative from MN STATE COLLEGE SOUTHEAST will be here Wednesday, March 15 at 9AM.  Please sign up in the Counseling Office (Room 123).

IMPORTANT!!!!   A representative from RCTC will be here Monday, March 20 (D Block) to help anyone doing college or PSEO at RCTC next fall with Accuplacer testing info, registration, FAFSA questions, and more.  Please stop in the Counseling Office (Room 123) this week and see Terri for more information and to sign up.  RCTC plans to be here on April 4 to administer the Accuplacer to those who need to take it.

Anyone interested in being a manager/statistician for varsity baseball please contact Coach Baum.  Would love to have 2 people if possible.

Anyone in grades 10-12 interested in running the baseball concession stand during home games please see Coach Baum. You will be paid. All you have to do is show up and sell concessions.

BASEBALL:  meeting on Wednesday right after school in Coach Baum's room for Grades 9-12.

BASEBALL:  meeting on Wednesday during your lunch after you eat for all Jr. High students interested in going out for baseball this spring in Coach Baum's room.​
